The old town around the Somnath temple and the bazaars has narrow lanes and older houses with heavy wooden doors. Society and building rules
Pali has almost no apartment societies, so the paperwork is with the house owner. Settle the rent and the electricity and water bills, take a meter reading and walk the owner through the empty house before handing over the keys. Government quarters near the collectorate and railway quarters near the station have a vacating date and a no-dues process, and the loading is planned for that morning. Company housing near the units needs a gate pass.

Where the truck can stand
Most addresses take a truck, and many houses have a compound it can back into, which keeps the carry short. The exceptions are the lanes of the old town around the Somnath temple and the main bazaar, which fill with shoppers, handcarts and two-wheelers from mid-morning. There the truck waits on the nearest main road and a small vehicle makes the trips. Industrial roads are wide but busy with goods trucks.

Traffic and timing
The bazaars and the roads around the bus stand are busiest from late morning to evening, and the industrial roads have their own rush when shifts change. We load early on any day and leave the old town before the shops open. Diwali and the wedding season from November to February crowd the markets, and on festival days the old town is best left alone. Weekday mornings are the easiest time.

Summer in Pali is long and hard, from April to June, with afternoons at 43°C to 45°C and dry winds carrying dust, so the crew starts at first light and rests through the worst hours. The monsoon, July to September, is short, but a heavy spell can raise the Bandi and flood low parts of town for a day. November to February is cool and the easiest time to move.

Can you move our household from Pali to Jodhpur in a day?
Yes. Jodhpur is about 75 km on NH 62, so the truck is loaded by mid-morning and emptied in Jodhpur after lunch. If the new home is in Jodhpur's old city, tell us, because the lanes there need a smaller vehicle and a carry. For a flat on Pal Road or anywhere else with a lift, check whether the society wants the date in writing.
Our family business is in Chennai. Can you move us there from Pali?
