A mover proves it is reliable on the day, but you can tell a lot before you book. A company that wants to see your goods before it gives a price is planning the right truck and crew. One that quotes a figure over the phone without asking what you own is guessing, and a guess tends to grow on moving day.
Ask who will pack. A lot of transit damage starts with poor packing, and it goes better when it is done by the company’s own staff than by labour hired for the day. Ask for the inventory list at loading, because it is what you check everything against at delivery.

What every move gets
Moving scams usually borrow a real company's name and ask for money quickly. These checks use public records, so you do not have to take anyone's word for it.
Search the GSTIN on the official GST portal. The legal name and address should match the company quoting you. Ours is 27AAECH0488E1ZN, registered to Happy Packers and Movers Private Limited.
A private limited company has a CIN you can search on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs website. Ours is U74999PN2016PTC165657. The record shows 2016, the year the business was registered as a private limited company; it has been moving homes since 2006.
A genuine mover can tell you where its office is and who runs it. Every one of ours is on the branches page with the person in charge and a phone number.
The quote should list packing, loading, transport, unloading and GST, and the agreement should list your goods. A price that exists only on a phone call cannot be held to.
A small advance to confirm the date is normal. A demand for a large sum in cash is one of the clearest warning signs. More in our guide to fake packers and movers.
The star average matters less than what sits behind it. A 5.0 from twenty reviews says less than a 4.9 from more than a thousand, because a small count is easy to fill with friends and family.
Read the newest reviews first, since a company can change in a year. Then read the low ratings. Every mover has some; what matters is whether the company replied and put the problem right. Look for reviews that name a route or a home size like yours, and that describe the packing and the delivery, not only the phone call.

Indicative ranges before GST. They usually cover packing, loading, transport and unloading within the distance band. Your written quote is fixed after a survey and depends on the goods and the access at both buildings.
Put two quotes side by side and check they cover the same work. The gap between a fair price and a very low one is usually on this list.
Each of these cuts the packing, labour or truck space you pay for, or makes a date easier to get.
Month end, weekends and festival weeks are the busiest. A mid-month weekday is easier to book.
A few items or a small flat going a long way can travel with another move on the same route. It takes longer, so it suits flexible dates.
Sell, give away or throw out what you no longer use. Fewer cartons means less to pack, load and carry.
Clothes, books and linen are simple to pack. Leave glass, electronics and furniture to the crew, because cartons you pack yourself are usually not covered for damage.

A move is surveyed, packed and loaded by the office nearest the pickup, and one coordinator stays your contact until the goods are unpacked at the other end. Where a city has no office of its own, its page says which office runs moves there and how far away it is.

No single company is the right choice for every move, so judge the mover in front of you on the same checks: a survey before the quote, a written itemised price, a registered business you can look up, and a long record of recent reviews. For a small load going a long way, a shared truck costs less because you split the vehicle with another move on the same route. It takes longer than a dedicated truck, so it suits flexible dates.
An affordable price is safe when the quote is in writing, the company is registered and the goods are listed on an inventory at loading. The risk lies in a quote given only over the phone, a large cash advance and no paperwork, whatever the price.
No. Every office quotes from the same rate card. The price depends on how much you are moving, the distance, and the access at both buildings, not on which city you book from.
On our rate card, a local move (up to 200 km, which covers any move within a city) is quoted at ₹10,000 to ₹13,500 for a 1 BHK and ₹12,000 to ₹16,500 for a 2 BHK, before GST. Longer moves are priced by distance band. The cost calculator gives a range for any two cities, and the final figure is fixed in your written quote after a survey.
Yes. Every move gets a GST invoice with our registered details, and on request we share the quote, the agreement and the inventory list your employer or insurer may ask for.
Transit insurance is optional and available on local and long-distance moves. The premium is worked out on the value you declare for your goods, and it is added to your quote so you can decide before the move. If something is damaged, note it on the delivery receipt, take photos, and we help you file the claim.
Yes. Packing and unpacking, loading and unloading, and a truck with a driver can each be booked on their own, and the written quote lists each part separately. If you pack and load yourself, goods you packed are usually not covered for damage in transit.
A small advance confirms your date, and the rest is paid as set out in your quote, by cash, UPI or bank transfer. If your plans change, tell us as early as you can. What can be refunded depends on how close to the move you cancel, as our refund policy explains.
