House shifting in Aundh
Aundh is one of the older planned parts of west Pune and it shows in the buildings. There are bungalows and low-rise societies from the eighties and nineties with narrow staircases and lifts that were never meant to carry a wardrobe, sitting a street away from newer towers with proper service lifts. The quote changes a lot between the two, so we look before we price.
A good share of our Aundh work is families who have lived in the same flat for fifteen or twenty years. That kind of move has more of everything: more cartons, more books, more crockery, more furniture that has never been taken apart. We plan an extra packing day for those rather than trying to do it all on the morning of the move.
The other half is people coming and going from the offices around ITI Road and the Aundh-Baner stretch. Those are quicker jobs, usually a 1 or 2 BHK, and the constraint is traffic rather than volume. Parihar Chowk and the DP Road junction are slow from nine to eleven and again from six to eight, so we load outside those hours.
The older societies here have small lifts and tight staircases, so a large sofa or a double-door fridge often has to be carried down by hand. The newer societies on DP Road have a visitor bay we can use for the day. In the older lanes off ITI Road there is nothing, and the truck stands on the road with a crew member watching it. Around Parihar Chowk we avoid standing at all during the day and load either before nine in the morning or after eight at night.

Busy junction with no room to stand. We load early morning here or the truck gets moved on by traffic police.

My building in Aundh has a small lift. How do you handle the big furniture?
We measure the lift at the survey. Anything that will not fit goes down the staircase with extra crew, and a wardrobe or a bed is dismantled first so it travels in pieces rather than whole. Where even the staircase is too tight we use a rope lift from the balcony, which we tell you about in advance because it needs your society's permission.
We have lived in the same Aundh flat for twenty years. How long will packing take?
