Model Town

The bazaars fill from late morning and stay busy into the evening. During the Navratras, pilgrims pass through town on their way to Chintpurni in Himachal, and the Chintpurni road is slow for those weeks. The harvests put tractor trolleys on every village road in April and October. Weekday mornings suit loading, both in town and out in the villages.

Hoshiarpur gets more rain than the rest of the Doaba because of the hills. From July to September the choes come down in spate after a heavy shower in the Shivaliks, cutting village roads for hours or even days, so a village move in that season is planned with a spare day.
