Shifting homes in Sikar
Sikar has become one of Rajasthan's big coaching towns, and much of its newer housing, along Piprali Road and in the colonies around it, is hostels, PG rooms and flats let to families from across Shekhawati and beyond. The old town is a different place, with painted havelis, temples and bazaars on narrow lanes. Shekhawati also sends many men into the army and to jobs in the Gulf, and their families often live in large independent houses in the outer colonies.
Coaching moves are small and seasonal: a student's room, or a flat rented for a year or two with a kitchen, beds and a study table, packed up after the exams. Haveli moves are slow and heavy, with thick walls, steep stairs and furniture that has been in the house for generations, and lanes that stop a truck well short. The bigger houses in the colonies are ordinary family moves, easy for a truck and long on packing.
Beyond coaching, Sikar is a district headquarters with government offices, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Shekhawati University and a medical college. Soldiers and ex-servicemen from the district move back and forth with postings and retirement, and the Khatu Shyam ji temple brings a pilgrim trade. People leave for Jaipur, Delhi and Gurgaon for work, and older business families have ties to Kolkata and Mumbai.

Packers and movers charges in Sikar
Sikar is a small town, and most moves within it are under 8 km, Piprali Road to a colony on the bypass, for instance. A hostel room is an hour's work, and a 2 BHK comes out of one house and goes into the next on the same day. Time goes on the old town carry, on class change crowds near the institutes, and on big houses with roof rooms full of stored things. Jaipur, at about 110 km, is also a day's move.

The coaching belt, with hostels, PG rooms and family flats above shops. Class change times fill the road with students, so loading fits between batches.
Old town and the haveli lanes
Painted havelis on lanes too narrow for a truck. Goods come out on a handcart or small tempo to the main road.
Jaipur Road
Newer colonies, showrooms and some apartment blocks on the Jaipur side of town. The road is wide, with heavy traffic in the evening.
Outer colonies and the bypass
Large independent houses on big plots, often with a roof room and a store. The truck can pull up at the gate.
Station Road and the main bazaar
Shops with homes above them near the railway station, busy from mid-morning, so we arrive early and keep the truck's stop short.

Society and building rules
Hostels and PGs want the room checked and keys returned before they refund the deposit, so ask for the check a day ahead. Flats let to coaching families usually have an owner living downstairs who will want to see the place empty. Big independent houses have no rules beyond the neighbours' patience, but tell them if the truck will block the lane for a few hours. Army families moving in from a posting should keep the unit's move order handy for the claim.

Where the truck can stand
The coaching roads around Piprali Road are wide at the main road but tight in the side lanes, with scooters and students everywhere, so a smaller vehicle goes in. In the old town, the lanes around the havelis and bazaars are too narrow for a truck at any hour, and the crew carries to the nearest open road. The outer colonies and the Jaipur road side have space for a full-size truck at the gate.

Traffic and timing
Coaching sets the calendar. April to July is the busy season, when new students arrive and those who finished leave. Within the day, the half hour around class changes clogs the coaching roads. The Khatu Shyam ji fair in Phalgun, around February and March, fills the roads between Reengus, Khatu and Sikar with pilgrims for days, and Navratri brings crowds to Jeen Mata. Weekday mornings outside those weeks are easy.

Weather and the months to plan around
Shekhawati has some of the widest swings in the state. May and June afternoons pass 45°C and the wind carries grit, so loading begins at dawn. The monsoon is light. In December and January nights around Sikar fall close to freezing, and Fatehpur to the north is often among the coldest places in the plains, which makes early starts slow but the days pleasant. October, November and February are the easiest months.

We rented a flat near Piprali Road for our daughter's coaching. Can you move us home after the course?
Yes. We pack the kitchen, beds, cooler and study things, list them on an inventory and take them back to your home town, whether that is a few hours away in Shekhawati or further. Tell us the exam and result dates, so the flat is emptied before the owner needs it. April to July is busy, so book two weeks ahead.
Can a truck reach our haveli in the old town?
Not usually to the door. The lanes are narrow and the havelis have steep stairs, so the crew takes heavy pieces apart where possible and carries them to a small vehicle or handcart, which shuttles to the truck parked on the wider road. A video call before the quote shows us the lane and the staircase, and the extra carrying is listed in it.
I am retiring from the army and moving home to Sikar. Can you bring our things from my last posting?
Yes. We pack at your present station, with the entry passes arranged through your unit, and deliver to your house in Sikar or the village nearby. Both the inventory and the GST bill are drawn up to suit your claim, and a car or motorcycle travels separately on a carrier.
Is a move from Sikar to Jaipur done in one day?
Yes. Jaipur is about 110 km on NH 52, a couple of hours for a loaded truck, so the packing is done in the morning and the unloading by mid-afternoon. Jaipur's newer towers often need the lift booked a day or two ahead, so sort that out with the new society first.
