Shifting homes in Sonipat
Sonipat is really three places strung along NH 44. The old town and the HUDA sectors, Sectors 14 and 15 among them, sit a few kilometres off the highway on the Gohana Road side, with houses on plots and a busy market near the railway station. To the south, Kundli and Rai have industrial estates, logistics yards and townships of flats and plotted villas that Delhi families moved into. To the north, Murthal has DCRUST, the highway dhabas and new sectors still filling in.
The Rajiv Gandhi Education City at Rai, with Ashoka University, SRM, the National Law University and an IIT Delhi campus, and O P Jindal Global University on the Narela road, bring faculty, staff and a very large student population from all over India. Their moves are short, fixed to term dates and often go through the university's housing office. Faculty homes arrive full of books, and students leave with a few cartons and a cycle.
Kundli and Rai are where the work is for everyone else: food processing, packaging, auto parts and warehouses, with NIFTEM's campus at Kundli and the KMP expressway starting nearby. Flats in the townships along the highway are rented by people commuting into north Delhi and by plant staff. Families from the old town move out to the new sectors, and many younger people go south to Gurgaon, Noida and Delhi for jobs.

Society and building rules
Each tower in Kundli and along the highway has a maintenance office, which will ask for a move request some days ahead, a no dues slip and, from tenants, the owner's approval. Many flats here are owned by Delhi families and rented out, so get that approval by email early. University housing is handed back through the campus estate or housing office after an inspection. In the HUDA sectors the landlord is usually the only person who needs to agree, along with the neighbours on a shared staircase.

Where the truck can stand
In the HUDA sectors, and inside the townships, a 17 ft truck gets right up to the building. The old town's lanes near the station and on Gohana Road are too narrow in trading hours, so a pickup works them. On NH 44 a truck cannot stand on the carriageway, and at Kundli, Rai and Murthal we load from the service road or inside the township gate. Campuses have plenty of space once security has cleared the vehicle, though the walk to a hostel block can be long.

Traffic and timing
The Singhu border, where NH 44 enters Delhi, is slow at almost any hour, and Delhi's rules keep large goods trucks out through the day, so a load bound for Delhi waits for the night. The KMP expressway lets a truck reach Gurgaon or Faridabad without entering the city. Inside Sonipat, the old town's market is busiest from late morning, and Kundli's service roads jam at factory shift changes. University moves bunch up in May and August, around the end and start of terms.

Weather and the months to plan around
The heat is the first thing to plan for. In May and June the afternoons pass 44°C, and the loading is done by late morning. July and August bring heavy showers that pool water on the highway service roads and in low parts of the old town. From November the smog of the Delhi region settles here too, and December and January bring fog thick enough to stop trucks on NH 44 before dawn. February, March and October are the pleasant months.

I am a student at one of the Rai universities. Can you move just my room?
Yes. A room with a mattress, a desk, a few cartons and a cycle is one of the smallest jobs we price. For a long distance, a shared truck bound for the same city is worth asking about. It is cheaper and slower, and we can only say yes once one is actually going. At the end of term, when every hostel empties together, book a week ahead.
We are moving from a Kundli township into Delhi. When will the truck arrive?
Packing and loading happen in the day, but a full-size truck cannot enter Delhi until the late evening window, so the unloading is usually that night or first thing next morning. If your new Delhi building allows moves only in daylight, the loaded truck waits and we unload in the morning. Tell us the building's rules when you book.
Can you shift faculty quarters on a university campus?
Yes. The housing office usually wants the flat emptied and inspected on a set day, and security wants the vehicle and crew details a few days early. A faculty home is often more books than furniture, so we bring book cartons and count the shelves at the survey. The bill can be in the university's name or yours.
Is Gurgaon a same-day move from Sonipat?
Yes. The KMP expressway runs from Kundli around the west of Delhi towards Manesar, so the load avoids Delhi's goods vehicle rules and reaches Gurgaon the same afternoon. At about 80 km it is billed at our local rates. The Gurgaon society's lift slot usually decides the unloading time.
