Shifting homes in Noida
Noida was laid out by its development authority as a grid of numbered sectors, and the number tells you a lot about the move. The low sectors, from 14 to about 40, are plots with kothis and three-storey authority flats from the city's early years. The fifties and sixties mix group housing with offices. Past Sector 70, and all along the expressway down to Sector 150, it is high-rise societies.
Each kind of home brings its own problem. A kothi in Sector 26 or 29 has two or three floors of heavy furniture and a staircase that turns at every landing, so beds and almirahs come apart upstairs. An authority flat in Sector 22 or 55 has no lift at all. In a tower the lift is fine, but the building sets the terms: which hours you may use it, which gate the truck comes through and how long it may stand there.
Work is what brings people here. The IT offices in Sector 62, around Sectors 125 to 135 and along the expressway, the news channels in Film City, the electronics plants near Sector 81 and the export units in Phase 2 and Sector 63 all hire from across India, and Amity University in Sector 125 brings students. People leave as readily, for Bangalore, Hyderabad or Gurgaon when the job changes.

Packers and movers charges in Noida
Moves inside Noida run from 5 to 20 km, say Sector 50 to Sector 137, or Sector 27 out to Sector 150, and a 2 BHK takes one working day. Crossing the city is quick on the expressway and slow anywhere near Sector 18, the Film City flyover or the Mahamaya flyover after 5 pm. A kothi or a 4 BHK in a tower usually gets a packing day first. Lifts and stairs take more of the day than the road does.

Sector 15A and Sectors 26 to 30
Large kothis on quiet sector roads. The truck has room, but heavy old furniture and winding stairs make a four-bedroom house a full day's work.
Sectors 12, 22, 55 and 56
Authority flats in low blocks with no lift. Every carton goes down the stairs by hand, so a second or third floor gets extra hands.
Sectors 50 to 52
Older, smaller group housing societies with lifts that take a fridge standing up but not a long sofa. Big pieces sometimes go down the stairwell.
Sectors 74 to 79
High-rise societies packed close together, each with its own pass and lift rules. The sector roads jam at school hours, so loading is planned around them.
Expressway sectors, 128 to 150
Towers along the Noida Greater Noida Expressway, far apart and far from the shops. The truck enters at a service gate and the crew trolleys to your tower.
Harola, Nithari and the urban villages
Rented rooms and small flats in the old villages inside the sectors. The lanes will not take a truck, and a tempo carries to the sector road.

Society and building rules
In the towers, the move is booked with the maintenance office, which is run by the builder until the society is handed over and by the apartment owners' association (AOA) after that. The office wants a date, a time, the truck number and the crew names, and it signs the move-out pass once the maintenance account shows nothing owing. If you rent, expect to be asked for the owner's written consent. Some societies take a refundable deposit, and many stop shifting after dark. Authority flats and kothis have none of this, only the neighbours to warn.

Where the truck can stand
Sector roads are wide by NCR standards, and a 17 ft truck can reach the gate almost everywhere outside the villages. Inside a society it stands where the guards direct, which can be a long walk from your tower. Parking is harder in the older sectors, where cars fill both sides of the road by evening, so an early arrival helps. In Harola, Nithari, Morna and the other villages the lanes take no truck at all, and a tempo shuttles to the nearest sector road.

Traffic and timing
The worst jams are at the DND and the Chilla border into Delhi, around Sector 18 and the Film City flyover, and on the expressway near Mahamaya in the evening. A truck loaded in the morning and moving by early afternoon misses most of it. Noida keeps heavy goods vehicles off several main roads for part of the day, and a load for Delhi itself has to wait for the night-time entry hours. Month ends and Sundays fill up first.

Weather and the months to plan around
From late April to June, afternoons pass 44°C and hot wind blows dust off the open plots along the expressway, so we pack early and keep electronics out of a parked truck at midday. Heavy rain in July and August fills some underpasses and low sector roads for a few hours at a stretch. November to January brings smog and thick fog, and a long-distance truck leaving at night crawls. February, March and October are the easiest months.

Moving from Noida to another city
Noida gains people with every new office tower and loses them to the next job, often in Bangalore or Hyderabad. Gurgaon and Delhi are near enough for a same-day move, and Agra, Meerut and Lucknow are short runs on the expressways. Families returning to eastern Uttar Pradesh or Bihar are the other steady group.

Our society in Sector 137 is still with the builder. Who do we ask about the lift?
The builder's maintenance office, which runs the lifts and the gates until the AOA takes over. Ask it for the shifting slot and the move-out pass, and pass on our truck details and crew names, sent the evening before. If it wants a deposit or a no-dues letter, sort that a few days ahead so the morning is not spent at the desk.
Can you move us out of a third-floor authority flat in Sector 22?
Yes. Those blocks have no lift, so everything goes down the stairs by hand. We send more people for the carry, take beds and almirahs apart in the flat, and wrap each piece before it reaches the stairwell so the walls and railings are not scraped. A third-floor 2 BHK still fits in one day.
We are moving from Noida to Gurgaon. Can it be done in a day?
Yes. At roughly 50 km it counts as a local job on our rate card. The route crosses Delhi, which keeps goods vehicles off its roads in the daytime, so for a 2 BHK we pack in the morning, cross in the permitted hours and unload that night or first thing next morning, whichever your new society allows.
I rent a room in Harola. Can you move a small load?
Yes. A bed, a fridge and a few cartons is a small job, and a tempo gets further into the village lanes than a truck. If you are leaving Noida for another city, we will look for a part load going your way, though we cannot promise one, because it depends on another household travelling the same route.
How much does house shifting cost in Noida?
