Shifting homes in Agra
Agra's housing is mostly independent houses in colonies laid out over the last few decades: Kamla Nagar, Dayalbagh, Shastripuram, Awas Vikas, and Kalindi Vihar across the Yamuna. The Cantonment has bungalows and officers' quarters. The old city, around Kinari Bazaar, Raja ki Mandi, Belanganj and the Jama Masjid, is packed with tall houses on narrow lanes. Apartments are newer and fewer, along Fatehabad Road, on the Sikandra side and near the Yamuna Expressway.
Near the Taj the rules are unusual. Petrol and diesel vehicles are kept out of a zone around the monument, and trucks are restricted across Tajganj for much of the day, so a move there uses a smaller vehicle at a permitted hour. Elsewhere the colonies are easy for trucks, but the houses are full: two floors, a roof, heavy furniture and a good deal of brass and steel.
Agra works in shoes, tourism and trade. Shoe factories in Sikandra, Foundry Nagar and Nunhai and the hotels on Fatehabad Road are the big employers. Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Dayalbagh Educational Institute, SN Medical College, the Air Force station at Kheria and the army units in the Cantonment bring transfers. The Taj Trapezium rules keep heavy industry out, so new factory jobs are few and many young people leave to find work.

From Kamla Nagar to Fatehabad Road is about 10 km, and from Dayalbagh to Shastripuram about 12 km, so a 2 BHK is loaded and unloaded in one day. The slow parts are Bhagwan Talkies, Water Works and the MG Road stretch in the afternoon, and any address near the Taj, where the truck stops outside the restricted zone and a smaller vehicle covers the rest.

A planned, quiet area around the Radhasoami Satsang and its institute, with wide roads and houses that have space outside.
Kamla Nagar and Balkeshwar
Dense residential and market streets, the houses mostly two or three floors high. The truck needs an early start before the market roads fill.
Sikandra and Awas Vikas
The large Awas Vikas colony and newer apartments near the highway, with plenty of room for a truck and a quick run onto NH 19.
Tajganj and Fatehabad Road
Hotels, apartments and old houses near the Taj. Vehicle limits around the monument mean a smaller vehicle, at a permitted time.
Agra Cantonment
Bungalows and officers' quarters on wide roads. Entry for the vehicle and crew is cleared in advance with the station.
Kinari Bazaar and Belanganj
Old city lanes packed with shops and handcarts. A small vehicle at dawn is the only plan that works.

Society and building rules
Most Agra homes are independent houses, so there is no society office to deal with. Apartment societies on Fatehabad Road and near Sikandra want notice, the truck number and dues settled before the gate pass, and a few charge a lift deposit. Cantonment and Air Force quarters have their own vacating process with an inspection date. In the colonies, a word with the neighbours helps, since the truck will stand in front of their gates too.

Where the truck can stand
Colony roads in Dayalbagh, Sikandra, Awas Vikas and Shastripuram take a 17 ft truck. Kamla Nagar and Balkeshwar are tighter, with market traffic. Close to the monument, fuel vehicles are not allowed at all and trucks are limited across Tajganj, so a smaller vehicle works in the permitted hours and the crew carries the last part. The old city lanes around Kinari Bazaar take a handcart at best.

Traffic and timing
Agra's traffic is worst at Bhagwan Talkies, Water Works, Sikandra and along MG Road, from 9 am to noon and again from 5 pm. Goods trucks face long daytime restrictions inside the city. Weekends and holidays fill Tajganj and Fatehabad Road with tourist traffic, so a weekday is better there. The Taj is closed on Fridays, which makes Friday the quietest day around it.

Weather and the months to plan around
Agra gets very hot, with May and June often at 45 to 47°C and dust in the air, so loading starts early. July to September brings humid heat and short, heavy rain that waterlogs low roads. December and January are foggy and cold, and fog on the Yamuna Expressway can hold up a truck bound for Delhi. October, November and February are the months to choose.

Agra's young people leave for Delhi NCR, Jaipur and further for work, and tourism and government jobs bring others in. Mathura and Aligarh are near enough for a one-day move, the Yamuna Expressway puts Delhi within a morning's drive, and Lucknow is an easy run on its own expressway.

Can you move a house near the Taj in Tajganj?
Yes, with a smaller vehicle and at a time the local rules allow. Fuel vehicles are not permitted right next to the monument and trucks are restricted across Tajganj, so the main truck waits outside and the goods come to it in trips. We check the lane and the timing on a video call before quoting.
We are leaving the Agra Cantonment on posting. Can you do the paperwork?
We prepare the itemised inventory and the GST invoice your unit's claim needs, and plan the packing around the quarters handover. The station wants the truck number and crew names for entry, which reach it from us as soon as the date is agreed. Your car, if it is coming, rides a separate carrier.
Is Friday a good day to move in Agra?
Near the Taj, yes. The monument is closed on Fridays, so Tajganj and Fatehabad Road carry less tourist traffic. In the rest of the city Friday is an ordinary working day, and we start early to stay ahead of the jams at Bhagwan Talkies and Water Works.
Can you move us from Agra to Delhi or Noida on the Yamuna Expressway?
Yes. Noida is about 200 km and Delhi about 230 km. The truck is loaded in Agra during the day and reaches Noida the same evening, while a Delhi delivery waits for the hours when goods vehicles may enter. Winter fog on that road can add hours in December and January, and the delivery window is set with that in mind.
