Packers and Movers in Durg

Durg is the older of the twin towns, a district headquarters long before Bhilai was built. Its centre is a knot of bazaars around Indira Market, Ganjpara and the station, where traders' houses rise two and three storeys over their shops. The collectorate, the district courts and the government offices sit close by, and the colonies that grew around them, such as Padmanabhpur, Borsi and Kasaridih, are mostly independent houses with a housing board block here and there. The Shivnath river runs along the western edge of town, and Pulgaon sits by its bridge.

Moves in Durg are about old houses and short distances. Homes in the bazaar have narrow stairs, low doors and upper rooms full of stock and stored things, and once trade starts the lanes have no room for a truck. The colonies are easier, each house with its gate and porch, though families there have often lived in one house for decades and packing takes a full morning. Government quarters near the collectorate and the courts go back through their departments, each with its own inspection.

Work in Durg comes from government, the courts, the railway junction and the trade in grain and vegetables from the farms around it. Hemchand Yadav Vishwavidyalaya, the Science College and the Bhilai Institute of Technology bring students and teachers, and IIT Bhilai's permanent campus at Kutelabhata is just outside the town. Many Durg families have someone at the steel plant or in Raipur, and moves between the three are routine. Young graduates go on to Nagpur, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
