Traffic gathers at Hanuman Chowk, the bus stand, the railway station and along the Mall Road through the day, and the grain market is at its busiest after the wheat and paddy harvests. Baisakhi brings very large crowds to Takht Sri Damdama Sahib at Talwandi Sabo, which fills the road south for a couple of days. In summer the working hours are 6 am to about 11 am, and again after 5 pm.

Weather and the months to plan around
Few places in Punjab are as hot and dry as Bathinda. May and June afternoons reach 45 to 47°C, with hot winds and dust storms that can blow up within an hour, so goods are covered as they come out and the television and fridge stay inside till the truck is ready for them. The monsoon is short and light. On winter nights the temperature falls close to freezing, and dense fog in December and January slows long loads. November and February to March are the gentlest months.
