The cotton and soybean trade, the district administration and the railway junction bring the rest, and Purna, about 30 km away, is a railway town with its own colonies.

The urs at the dargah of Hazrat Turabul Haq brings large crowds and fair stalls for several days, and the roads near it slow right down. Ganesh festival and Muharram processions also pass through the old town. Otherwise Parbhani traffic is light, and any weekday outside the weekly market day suits a move.

Parbhani summers are hard, with April and May near 42°C and hot winds in the afternoon, so loading happens early and the crew takes a break through the worst of the heat.
