Garkheda, Osmanpura and Samarth Nagar are older middle-class colonies close to the centre. The newest apartment societies are on Beed Bypass, in Satara Parisar and along Paithan Road, and company housing surrounds the Waluj industrial area.
Each of these makes a different kind of move. In the CIDCO sectors and the newer societies there is room for a truck and the buildings are only a few floors high, so the work is mostly packing and carrying. The lanes of Gulmandi, Shahganj and Juna Bazaar are another matter: old houses, steep stairs and approaches so narrow that some of the gates will not take anything bigger than a tempo. Flats on Beed Bypass bring the opposite problem, a good road but one small lift shared by every family.
Industry is the main reason people move here. Bajaj Auto builds motorcycles at Waluj, Skoda Auto Volkswagen has a plant at Shendra, and pharma makers including Wockhardt and Lupin run units in the MIDC estates. Auric, the new industrial city being built between Shendra and Bidkin, is adding more. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, the medical colleges and the divisional offices bring teachers, doctors and officers on transfer, and Ajanta and Ellora keep the hotels and the tour trade hiring.

Newer societies on Beed Bypass, Paithan Road and in the N sectors usually want a note to the secretary or chairman before the move, and some ask for the maintenance account to be cleared first. One local point: many parts of the city get municipal water only every few days, so have the new home's tank filled before moving day, because cleaning and unpacking both need it.

Where the truck can stand
The planned parts of the city are generous with space. In CIDCO, Garkheda and along the bypass the truck parks outside the building or just inside the gate. The old city is different. Around Gulmandi, Shahganj, Juna Bazaar and the gates, lanes are too narrow and too crowded for a large truck, so it is parked out on a broader street and a tempo ferries the load across in rounds. On Jalna Road the truck can load from the service lane, but not in the evening rush.

Traffic and timing
Jalna Road carries most of the city's traffic, and the stretch past Seven Hills, Mondha Naka and the CIDCO bus stand jams every evening. Kranti Chowk and Nagar Naka are slow for much of the day. Heavy vehicles have restricted hours on the main roads, so a big truck is best loaded early and clear of the centre by late morning. Rallies tend to gather at Kranti Chowk, and festival processions pass through the old city, so check the calendar before a move there.

Weather and the months to plan around
Summers are dry and hot. April and May afternoons reach 40°C to 42°C, so packing starts early and electronics are not left sitting in a parked truck at noon. The monsoon, June to September, is moderate, but a hard spell floods underpasses and low roads for a few hours. Winter is short and pleasant, and the stretch from November to February gives the easiest moving weather of the year.
