Shifting homes in Daund
Daund grew up around its railway junction, where the lines to Solapur, Manmad and Baramati branch off, and the railway is still the town's biggest employer. Railway colonies with blocks of quarters stand close to the station, and staff arrive and leave on transfer all year. The State Reserve Police Force has two group headquarters here, with their own quarters and families on postings. The old town lies along the Bhima, which divides the district from Ahilyanagar, with close-packed houses, a bazaar and temples.
Quarters shape much of the moving here. Railway and SRPF blocks are older buildings of a few floors with stairs and no lifts, and the families in them pack to an inspection date set by the department. The crew we send is sized for the stairs, and the flat is left empty and swept for the handover. Houses in the old town stand close together on narrow lanes, while newer bungalows and apartment buildings on the edges of town are easier, with a gate and room for a truck.

Packers and movers charges in Daund
Daund is compact. The railway colony to Shalimar Chowk is a couple of kilometres, and the old town to the newer layouts not much more, so a 2 BHK goes from one door to the other inside a working day. Kurkumbh is about 15 km away and still a day move. What slows things is the stair carry in the quarters, the narrow lanes near the river, and traffic backing up where roads cross the railway at busy times. A large farm household is often packed over two days.

Society and building rules
Railway and SRPF quarters follow their own rules. The department sets a vacating date, the quarters are inspected, and meter readings and keys are handed back, so we load a day ahead of the inspection. The gate at the SRPF campus needs the truck and crew details ahead. In town, apartment buildings are small and run by their residents, who want notice and cleared dues. An independent house just needs the landlord's consent and the last rent and electricity bill paid.

Where the truck can stand
Most of Daund takes a 14 ft truck, and the railway colony and the newer layouts have space to stand at the gate. The lanes of the old town near the river and the bazaar are too narrow to turn in, so a tempo ferries goods out to the truck at the nearest open stretch. Shivaji Chowk and the station road are busy from mid morning, and a truck can only load there early. Farm addresses along the Bhima are easy in dry weather and soft after rain.

Traffic and timing
The centre is busiest from late morning, with shoppers around Shivaji Chowk and the bazaar, and traffic near the station rises with train arrivals. Railway transfers tend to follow the school year, so May and June are busy for quarters moves, and those dates go first. Ganesh festival processions close central roads for a few evenings. While the factories are crushing, the roads towards them fill with cane tractors. Weekday mornings with an early start are the easiest time.

Weather and the months to plan around
Daund sits on the dry plain of the Bhima, with light rain and hot summers. Afternoons in April and May regularly cross 40°C, and upper floors in the quarters are hot by noon, so the crew starts at 7 am and carries the heavy pieces first. Rain from June to September comes in short, heavy bursts that leave the old town's lanes muddy, and in a wet year, when dams upstream release water, the Bhima rises along the edge of town. Moving is least tiring in the cool, dry months, November to February.

Tell us the inspection date and the day you are due at your next posting. Packing and loading happen on the eve of the inspection, and the quarters are left swept and empty. Enough hands come to bring heavy items down the stairs safely. Your transfer claim gets a GST invoice and a full inventory, and for a long move there is a consignment number to follow.
Can you move an SRPF family to a new posting?
Yes. Before the day, the campus gate needs the vehicle's registration and ID for everyone in the crew, which we send once you book. Packing is planned around your vacating date, and a car or motorbike can go separately on a carrier. For a posting in another district the load travels with a consignment number and updates.
We are moving across the Bhima to Ahilyanagar. Can it be done in a day?
Yes. Ahilyanagar is about 85 km away by way of Shrigonda, so goods loaded at breakfast time are normally going into the new house by afternoon. At this end the time goes on the stairs or the lane, and at the other on the new building's rules, which we check before the day.
